TCML-I Fly Young celebrated Mid-Autumn Festival/First day of Fall course in Fremont

On the evening of September 14, 2026, TCML-I Fly Young Chinese School hosted its first class of the 2026 autumn term along with a free trial event in Fremont, California.

Timed around the Mid-Autumn Festival, the school integrated festive celebrations into its opening session to promote a practical, "lifestyle-oriented" Mandarin learning environment. The event combined daily conversation practice with traditional food and cultural activities. Attendees enjoyed Taiwanese specialties (such as braised pork rice, grass jelly, aiya jelly, and pineapple cakes) and participated in hands-on activities like making snow-skin mooncakes and red bean wheel cakes.

Students from diverse backgrounds introduced themselves in Mandarin. For instance, Pedro from Peru shared how he started learning Mandarin for business travel, while Alexander prepared homemade Mapo Tofu to share with the class and performed songs in Taiwanese.

The school emphasizes incorporating singing and food culture into language education, with two of its students recently advancing to the finals of the OCAC Global Singing Competition. In addition to encouraging students to take the Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language (TOCFL) in November, the school announced a 7-day cultural trip to Taiwan (visiting Taipei, Taichung, Tainan, and Kaohsiung) planned for January to provide immersive language and cultural exposure.
