Dialogue Practice by Students from Six “Taiwan Center For Mandarin Learner”: The 2026 "Taste of Taiwan" Food Stalls
A major event—jointly organized by six Taiwan Center for Mandarin Learning (TCML) in Southern California—was held to promote their curricula and recruit new students, while simultaneously introducing Taiwan's diverse culture and signature cuisine to attending students and guests. On March 22, at the Culture Center of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles, TCML students hosted a public showcase featuring authentic Taiwanese street food stalls. We were honored to invite two Board of Education Directors and the School District representatives to attend the event.

The menu included a delectable array of items such as tea eggs, stir-fried rice noodles, Aiyu jelly, Taiwanese fried chicken, savory glutinous rice, deep-fried tofu, and spring rolls. This initiative provided TCML students with a real-world environment for practicing their conversational skills—engaging directly with guests—and allowed them to appreciate the beauty of the Chinese language in action.

The event served a dual purpose: enabling students to apply their classroom learning in a tangible setting, while also serving as a platform to significantly boost publicity and enrollment for the six participating TCML centers. On the day of the event, students from all six centers were brimming with enthusiasm and ready for action as they welcomed visitors to their stalls; the venue was absolutely packed, with a ceaseless stream of people flowing through the crowd-filled space. The supervising teachers and adult students were kept incredibly busy, truly experiencing firsthand the captivating allure of Taiwan's culinary culture. For the TCML students, this immersive, real-world practice session was an immensely rewarding opportunity—one that also culminated in a highly successful promotional campaign for the TCML program.
